African-American Patriots Walking Tour
Thursday:
9:30 am – 12:00 noon
Celebrate the African-American patriots who played a vital role in the American Revolution in Boston and in the formation of our country on this 90-minute walking tour. Freemen and slaves, African-Americans joined local militias and some were members of the Sons of Liberty. Approximately 5,000 black soldiers served in the Continental Army, however even more worked for the British Army, which offered freedom to slaves. Led by an 18th-century costumed guide, you’ll view history through the eyes of African-American revolutionaries, including Crispus Attucks, Phillis Wheatley, Prince Hall and Peter Salem.
