Our conference agenda includes the 2019 AEGIS management report, a presentation from Sean Kevelighan, President & CEO of The Insurance Information Institute, who will discuss economic and insurance market conditions, and a report on the results of the 2019 AEGIS Limits Survey. We will also have an update on the electric and natural gas industries from representatives of the EEI and AGA, an update on Directors & Officers topics with the country’s leading D&O expert, Dan Bailey of Bailey Cavalieri LLC, and a panel of AEGIS member company Chief Risk Officers who will share their views of the energy industry and its evolving risks.
Our keynote speaker this year is Amy Walter, the national editor of the non-partisan Cook Political Report and a frequent on-air political analyst. For more than 20 years, she has built a reputation as an accurate, objective and insightful analyst with unparalleled access to campaign insiders and decision-makers. In addition to her weekly appearance on the popular “Politics Monday” segment on the PBS NewsHour, Amy also hosts WNYC’s nationally-syndicated public radio news program, “Politics with Amy Walter” on The Takeaway. She is a regular panelist on NBC’s Meet the Press and CBS’s Face The Nation, and appears frequently on Special Report with Bret Baier on Fox News. Amy will give us an insider’s tour of Washington in 2019 through the eyes of a woman with her finger on the pulse of politics.
A Lunch and Learn session is planned for members and brokers on Tuesday, July 16. Join the AEGIS Loss Control team and fellow risk managers for a discussion of existing and new operational and property loss control programs and how these efforts support the day-to-day management of safe and reliable energy operations.

The AEGIS reception on Wednesday evening will be held at Boston Symphony Hall, a designated National Historic Landmark which has the finest acoustics of any concert hall in the United States. We’re planning a fun evening with great music and entertainment, plus food and beverages inspired by the bounty of New England. The evening will include two performances by William Close & The Earth Harp Collective, who were recent contestants on The World’s Best on CBS. The base of the Earth Harp will rest on the main stage of Symphony Hall and the strings will rise up from the stage, stretch over the audience and attach to the upper balcony, so you will experience the music from inside the instrument. While we will offer shuttle transportation between the hotel and Boston Symphony Hall, we think many of you will enjoy walking back and forth to the reception on your own because it’s less than 10 minutes away by foot.
The AEGIS reception on Thursday night is a short walk from the hotel, as well. You will be able to walk directly from the hotel through the air-conditioned shops at Prudential Center to the Prudential Tower, where we will host a casual reception on the 50th floor Skywalk Observatory. You can enjoy the interactive exhibits, the 360-degree views that include Fenway Park, the Charles River, Back Bay, Beacon Hill and Boston Harbor, and more locally inspired food and drink, while winding down after a busy conference week.
The tours on Wednesday and Thursday will take full advantage of the summertime in Boston, and many have never been offered before at the PHC, including a fast ferry trip to Provincetown, a tour of Gilded Age Mansions in Newport, Rhode Island, sailing lessons aboard the schooner Liberty Clipper, a trip to 17th-century Plimoth Plantation, and a tour of the Larz Anderson Auto Museum. We’ll also offer some perennial favorites, including whale watching, Fenway Park, the USS Constitution “Old Ironsides”, the Salem Witch Museum and the House of Seven Gables, historic walking tours and a farmers market cooking class.
Dress for the conference is business casual. The summer months in Boston can be warm, with daytime temperatures in the mid-80s, and temperatures at night in the mid-60s. Because many venues are air-conditioned, and the evenings can be cool, you may wish to pack a light sweater or jacket.
Conference registration is complimentary and attendees are invited to bring guests. Brokers must be connected with a current AEGIS member policy written through AEGIS in New Jersey to attend. AEGIS will reimburse one representative from each member company with a current AEGIS policy written through AEGIS in New Jersey for the cost of three nights' lodging at the Boston Marriott Copley Place. Member companies are welcome to send additional representatives to learn more about AEGIS and industry issues.
