AEGIS is proud to offer its popular HOW SAFE Is Your Electric System program series online at AEGISlink.com. The HOW SAFE Is Your Electric System program is designed to illustrate the importance of effective inspection programs and outline the key attributes of such initiatives. This series highlights a variety of conditions encountered when conducting line, substation or equipment inspections and covers lessons learned from electric contact incidents when deficiencies were not identified.
Electric substation, transmission and distribution systems contain lines and equipment integral to safe and reliable electric delivery systems. If not properly designed, constructed and maintained, these facilities may present significant exposures that could affect public safety and power system reliability. Industry experience has shown that electric utility personnel focused on the technical and operational aspects of their systems sometimes do not recognize deficiencies that could affect public safety. Utility personnel responsible for the safe operation of electric systems must be acutely aware of conditions that could lead to public safety concerns or system reliability issues.
The HOW SAFE Is Your Electric System program is intended to be used as a basic or refresher safety training tool for electric utility operations personnel. The series contains four electric inspection programs:
