Effects of the Winter Storm in the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) Region and AEGIS Contingent Outage Presentation
In February, record-setting, sub-freezing temperatures in Texas knocked out almost half of the power generation in the state. More than 4.5 million homes and businesses in ERCOT’s region were left without power, some for several days. Marina Nadirova, AEGIS Class Underwriter, provides an overview of the event and highlights how the AEGIS Contingent Outage product can help mitigate the risk of similar events.

AEGIS welcomes two new underwriters: Cecilia Freedman and Mat Pifer
We are pleased to welcome Cecilia Freedman to AEGIS as an Underwriting Officer – Property. Cecilia has more than 20 years of underwriting experience with an emphasis on power generation and utilities. Prior to joining AEGIS, she was a Senior Underwriter at Zurich where she was responsible for a major book of energy business, and she held senior underwriting positions at CNA and Allianz. Cecilia began her career at Gen Re after graduating with a BA in Spanish and Business from the University of Texas at Austin.
Mat joins AEGIS as a Senior Underwriter – Renewable Energy from AXIS Capital where he underwrote renewable energy property and casualty risks for the past two years, and D&O before that. He began his career at Aon's Professional Services Group, broking Lawyers Professional Liability insurance. Mat graduated from the University of Vermont with a BA in Chinese Language.
