AEGIS renewable energy services expand further

We are pleased to announce the next phase of our renewables initiative. In September, we added a seasoned team of renewables underwriting specialists who will manage and provide all new renewable energy underwriting at AEGIS. The team is led by Tom Cain, Vice President & Renewable Energy Product Manager, and includes Christina Tom, Underwriting Officer – Renewable Energy and Jimmy Conroy, Senior Underwriter. They bring a wealth of renewable energy experience to AEGIS and they will follow our distinctively mutual approach of tailoring coverage to fit your specific needs.

Today, we are announcing AEGIS-committed renewable energy capacity of up to $250 million. The coverage is written 100% on AEGIS paper and is available for operational and construction risks including solar, battery storage facilities, and onshore and offshore wind assets. Renewable energy policies will be eligible for the AEGIS Premium Credit Program.

Our renewables initiative will be supported by the AEGIS Loss Control Renewable Energy Working Group who provide renewables engineering and loss control expertise to members, and by the AEGIS Claims team, who bring the collaborative approach to managing claims that has always distinguished us from the commercial insurance market.

PERse has advised AEGIS that it has decided to terminate our renewable underwriting alliance. The termination will take effect on April 18, 2021. During the run-off period of the PERse agreement, your business will be serviced as usual by your AEGIS underwriters, who will continue to underwrite and issue all alliance policies to members.

Regional member meetings go online for 2020 and 2021

Regional meetings are one of the best ways we stay in touch with members, and over the years many important new product and service initiatives have resulted from our discussions at regional meetings. We typically schedule these meetings as in-person gatherings during the fourth and first quarters, but with pandemic restrictions still in place, we will meet this year via Webex.

Online regional meetings are small groups with no more than 25 attendees. Each attendee is encouraged to participate in the open-forum discussion. We're interested in your thoughts on current insurance market conditions, the pandemic, potential new products and services, other ways AEGIS might help and whatever else may be on your mind.

It's a complex process, involving customers, employees and the general public, but adopting and implementing a systematic approach will enhance the effectiveness of risk management programs and identify opportunities to continuously improve pipeline safety.

This webinar focuses on two American Petroleum Institute Recommended Practices, (RP) – API RP 1162, Public Awareness Programs for Pipeline Operators and API RP 1173, Pipeline Safety Management Systems, and specifically how stakeholder engagement helps to improve pipeline safety.

The webinar will be presented by Lee Westerlind, who is the Manager of Pipeline Safety Management – Stakeholder Engagement for National Grid.
